New York Climate Week 2025 gathered global leaders, innovators, and changemakers to accelerate climate action and collaboration. Amid growing urgency — with seven of nine planetary boundaries now breached, according to the Planetary Health Check 2025 report — this year’s conversations centred on how we can restore balance through innovation, communication, and collective action.

For CompPair, Climate Week was an opportunity to share how biomimicry and healable materials can contribute to solving some of the world’s most pressing challenges, while connecting with inspiring initiatives such as the Planetary Embassy by Swissnex and The Nest Climate Campus.

Giving Nature a Voice at the Planetary Embassy

Hosted by Swissnex, the Planetary Embassy invited participants to imagine a world where nature — the Amazon rainforest, the oceans, or the atmosphere — held a seat at the United Nations General Assembly.

Moderated by Ana C. Rold, the panel brought together thought leaders Becca Franks, Carol O’Donnell, and Tecumseh Ceaser to explore a profound question:

What would nature tell us if it had the microphone?

The answer was clear — it would ask for help. Earth has recovered from countless crises over the past 3.8 billion years, from ice ages to asteroid impacts. The question is no longer whether the planet will survive, but whether humanity will.

The panel reminded us of the brief moment of recovery we witnessed during the COVID lockdowns, when ecosystems flourished as human activity slowed. It was a powerful reminder of our impact — and of nature’s capacity to heal if we give it space. The call to action: act now, and start with the younger generations. Education and awareness are key to reshaping our relationship with the planet.

Biomimicry and Business for the Planet at the NEST Climate Campus

At The Nest Climate Campus, CompPair’s CEO Amaël Cohades joined a panel organised by Action Speaks in collaboration with the Biomimicry Institute. The session focused on how we can learn from nature’s 3.8-billion-year history of innovation — a story of adaptation, efficiency, and resilience.

Speakers from Toyota, Schneider Electric, and the Biomimicry Institute highlighted how decarbonisation, circularity, and nature-inspired innovation must go hand in hand.

At CompPair, biomimicry lies at the heart of our technology. Our healable composite systems are inspired by natural healing processes, allowing composite materials to repair themselves within minutes — extending product life, reducing waste, and enabling circular manufacturing practices.

As the Biomimicry Institute reminded us, nature is much more than carbon — it’s oceans, land, and life. By observing and emulating natural systems, we can redesign materials and industries to be regenerative, not extractive.

The Power of Communication: Storytelling for Sustainability

Another central theme of the week emerged during the session “When Sustainability Meets Storytelling – Aligning Chief Sustainability Officers and Chief Communication Officers.”

In today’s world, people want to know not just what a company makes, but how it operates. Transparent communication and data-backed storytelling have become essential to building trust and inspiring action.

Speakers emphasised that sustainability communication should focus on clarity and purpose — one message, one data point, one clear “why.” As businesses evolve from pledging climate action to proving results, storytelling becomes a bridge between science, innovation, and human engagement.

At CompPair, we believe communication is a form of action. Sharing how technologies like ours contribute to circularity and resilience helps inspire broader change and collaboration.

A Call to Collaborate

From the Planetary Embassy’s message of giving nature a voice, to the Biomimicry Institute’s invitation to learn from it, the week’s events reinforced a shared truth: we already have many of the solutions we need. What’s missing is the collective will to implement them at scale.

CompPair’s mission is to amplify this positive impact — by designing materials that heal, extend life cycles, and enable circular practices across industries.

We left New York inspired by the passion, creativity, and collaboration driving the global sustainability movement. Together, we can build a world where business and nature thrive side by side.
