At the heart of Climate Week New York, Swiss watchmaker ID Genève marked a historic milestone: the launch of the world’s first United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) timepiece. The B Corp-certified brand presented the limited edition at Watches of Switzerland in Soho, with the United Nations officially joining the unveiling.
The launch, timed with the 10th anniversary of the UN’s SDGs, positions ID Genève as the first Swiss luxury watch brand to formally align with the UN’s global sustainability agenda. Only 17 watches have been produced — one for each of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals — and ownership is reserved for individuals demonstrating a proven commitment to sustainability.
Innovation Meets Purpose
At the core of this timepiece is CompPair’s HealTech™ regenerative carbon, a breakthrough material that extends lifespan and reduces waste by enabling composites to heal and be reused multiple times. Traditionally applied in industries such as rail and mobility, CompPair’s innovation now finds a symbolic place on the wrist, illustrating how regenerative design can be scaled across sectors.
“The Sustainable Development Goals are not just ambitions on paper — they are a practical plan to safeguard people and the planet,” said Maher Nasser, Assistant Secretary-General, UN Department of Global Communications. “By embedding the SDGs into the very design of its timepiece, ID Genève shows how innovation and creativity can inspire action. This collaboration illustrates the power of partnership and proves that even in the world of luxury, every second can count toward building a more sustainable and equitable future.”

A Watch That Tells More Than Time
The dial reinterprets the SDG colour wheel, featuring a warm gradient minute track set against deep blue hour markers for clarity. The case back carries the SDG logo and a unique engraving from 1 to 17, connecting each watch to a specific goal. Priced at USD 10,500 (excluding tax), 10% of proceeds will directly support SDG initiatives.
“We believe time is our most precious resource — and the way we design and produce watches should reflect the urgency of the challenges we face,” said Nicolas Freudiger, Co-founder and CEO of ID Genève.
For CompPair, the project highlights the versatility of HealTech™. “What we demonstrate in a watch, we scale with partners like SBB Swiss Federal Railways and 3A Mobility — designing regenerative composite train parts with lower maintenance costs and reduced waste,” said Amaël Cohades, Founder and CEO of CompPair. “This collaboration perfectly showcases the impact of healable design across industries.”

Redefining Swiss Luxury
ID Genève has rapidly established itself as a pioneer in sustainable watchmaking. Founded in 2020, the brand has built a reputation for circular design, using reprocessed steel remelted in solar furnaces, refurbished movements, and compostable straps. In 2023, Leonardo DiCaprio joined as an investor, reinforcing the brand’s vision of merging Swiss craftsmanship with environmental leadership.
With the SDG timepiece, ID Genève pushes the boundaries of what luxury can represent: not just status or style, but a tangible commitment to a more sustainable future.
