Celebrating 2024: Healable Composites Driving Innovation in the Industry!

Newsletter 2024

Strengthening the healable composite market with SHD

Our partnership with SHD Composites reinforces the presence of healable composite solutions in the market. Together, we aim to drive the adoption of sustainable materials across industries, delivering smarter, more resilient composite structures.

ESA supported CASSANDRA project: CompPair, Com&Sens and CSEM advance composite structural health monitoring and repair technology

CompPair, Com&Sens and CSEM have been awarded a contract in the European Space Agency - ESA FIRST! campaign for autonomous damage sensing and repair (ESA contract n°4000143717). The European Space Agency (ESA) has announced its support for the Composite Autonomous SenSing AnD RepAir (CASSANDRA) project, a collaborative effort led by CompPair, along with Com&Sens, and CSEM as subcontractors. This pioneering initiative aims to revolutionise the inspection and repairability of composite structures, particularly in the aerospace sector.

Leading the €2.8M Eurostar Nerthus initiative

CompPair proudly joined the €2.8 million Eurostar NERTHUS project, a transformative collaboration focused on sustainable mobility. Teaming up with companies from Spain, Italy, and Switzerland, we are driving forward eco-designed composite materials to revolutionise the transportation sector.

Reduced microcracking in tank applications with the European Space Agency

Through various European Space Agency (ESA) mandates, CompPair has developed pressure vessels with significantly reduced microcracking, demonstrating our ultra-fast, non-intrusive repair technology in both space and terrestrial applications. Our next goal is to deliver cryotanks for next-generation missions, where our healable composites will ensure durability and cost-efficiency in the most demanding environments.

Integrating recycled fibres at production to reach full circularity

Recycled carbon fibres with Gen2Carbon

We teamed up with Gen2Carbon, a leading provider of recycled carbon fibres. This partnership highlights our commitment to circular solutions, reducing waste, and advancing sustainability in composite manufacturing.

Recycled, recyclable and healable roof scoop with Objectif Dunes and Composite recycling

In a bid to reshape the future of motorsport, Swiss pioneers CompPair and Composite Recycling are collaborating on the eco-efficient Objectif Dunes rally buggy, introducing a breakthrough composite part that is recycled, recyclable, and healable. This roof scoop, which channels airflow to the engine for peak performance, sets new standards for sustainability and circularity in the racing industry. By combining CompPair’s HealTech™ technology with Composite Recycling’s advanced recycling processes, this collaboration demonstrates how sustainable solutions can deliver high-performance results while reducing environmental impact.
